Yoga Orkney offers a modern approach to fitness and flexibility through the practice of yoga in a studio based environment. Classes are aimed at a mixture of people of different ages, genders, backgrounds and abilities.
Classes are all about your experience with yoga as an individual. Yoga can help you to learn how to breathe consciously and connect with your body at your own pace with the added benefit of being great for your body!

Classes are suitable for all fitness levels
Hatha Yoga A general yoga class with breath work, postures and relaxation, suited to all levels and abilities. Beginners welcome.
Fitness Yoga A fun Hatha flow style class suited to all levels with a 6-8 week yoga routine practiced to music. Designed to compliment any other sports that participants are involved in.
Yin Yoga This practice is designed to help you sit longer, and more comfortably, in meditation (or your desk!) by stretching connective tissue around the joints (mainly the knees, pelvis, sacrum, and spine). A passive practice, Yin Yoga involves variations of seated and supine poses typically held for 3 to 5 minutes, accessing deeper layers of fascia.
Parent & Baby Yoga A class for caregiver and baby, focussing on bonding with baby, aiding baby’s sensory development and specifically designed postures for parents with young babies.
Pregnancy Yoga a class designed to take into account the changes to the body that come about through each trimester of pregnancy. Asanas are practiced to encourage relief from common complaints during pregnancy such as carpal tunnel, sciatica, lower back and hip pain. We also work to develop strength and endurance for labour as well as practicing breath techniques for relaxation and labour.
Barre is practiced at the ballet barre and is a fusion of pilates, ballet and yoga. We practice to up beat music and work small and large muscle groups and focus on stability, strength and flexibility to develop good posture.

Body Balance an inspired soundtrack plays as you bend abd stretch through a series of simple yoga moves and embrace elements of tai chi and pilates. Breathing control is part of all the exercises. You strengthen your entire body and leave the class feeling calm and centred.

A bit about my history
I achieved my CYQ approved 200hr Diploma in Teaching Yoga in June 2014. In addition to this I also completed my Level 2 Group Fitness Instructor qualification. After gaining my qualification I began instructing in September 2014 with full professional liability insurance. There was a short break of 6 months or so where I was off on maternity leave. I used that time away from my desk to undergo further study and I am now able to offer parent & baby classes and classes for women during pregnancy and after baby is born
Despite beginning my own journey into teaching yoga I still continue to practice yoga with my current teacher whom introduced me to the wonderful world of yoga over 10 years ago and attend classes of many other teachers when I can.
