Yoga is our bread and butter, hey, it gave us our name! We have been delighted to bring you a variety of yoga offerings over the years as our understanding has grown and developed.
While some aspects of Yoga are routed in ancient eastern mystery and archaic traditions, many of the aspects of the physical Yoga practice we undertake now were developed as an antigen to British Colonialism in India. The earliest forms of structured yoga schools can be traced back to the 1890s (where they still didn’t do many postures!) and what we know of Yoga today developed, with the help of gymnastics manuals (yes really), from the early 20th century onwards.
Today I like to teach a variety of classes that focus on holistic health and wellbeing and inclusion for the many. You are unlikely to be standing on your head or straining yourself into the splits.
You will however be challenged (physically and mentally), develop a deep understanding of yourself in relation to the world around you and will hopefully be able to find appreciation for slowing yourself down and finding respect for your body and mind.
